Piper sells Rollover Hot Dogs to Kerry Foods
Piper Private Equity has sold UK hot dogs business Rollover Hot Dogs to Kerry Foods.
The transaction value was not disclosed.
Piper backed the buy-in management buyout of Rollover in 2006, back when the business was generating revenues of £6m. The company's turnover now stands at £13m.
The deal marked the first investment from the GP's £60m Piper Private Equity IV fund. Piper deployed £4.5m of equity in the investment to secure a majority stake.
Following its investment, the GP embarked on a strategic review of the business, which led to a re-brand and the implementation of a new marketing and communication plan. The company also expanded its distribution base, which now totals 3,000 outlets.
Company
Founded in 1991, Rollover supplies hot dogs and related equipment, such as stands and warmers, to the food service and convenience retail sectors. It sells 20 million hot dogs per year.
People
Chris Curry led the deal for Piper.
