
BGF's York Mailing in bolt-on
BGF-backed York Mailing has acquired The Lettershop Group (TLG), a UK print marketing and mailing solutions provider.
York Mailing, which produces retail flyers, media inserts and catalogues, will gain complementary printing capabilities by acquiring TLG, according to the GP.
The merged group will have a turnover of close to £100m and it will employ 500 staff across three sites.
BGF invested £10m in York Mailing in July 2013 to be used for targeted acquisitions within the sector, as well as to buy new printing presses. TLG is the first acquisition York Mailing has completed using BGF's capital.

Founded in 1886 and based in Leeds, TLG has expanded into the retail sector after initially focusing on the financial services industry. The company offers marketing services including data analytics, marketing strategy and digital media.
Customers include Marks & Spencer, Sky and Tesco. TLG generated a turnover of £20m in the 2013 financial year and employs 200 staff.

Richard Taylor is a partner at BGF. Chris Ingram is the chief executive officer of York Mailing. John Hornby is the owner of TLG.
David McGolpin and Simon Cooper will remain joint managing directors of TLG.
