Grovepoint Capital backs Grenade UK
Grovepoint Capital has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Grenade UK, a provider of weight-loss food supplements.
Grovepoint plans to accelerate the growth of the business via product development and geographic expansion.
This deal is Grovepoint's second investment in the food supplement sector within the last year, following the acquisition of a majority stake in Algatech, the manufacturer of antioxidant Astaxanthin, in February 2013.
Company
Founded in 2009 by Alan and Juliet Barratt, Grenade develops and markets products for weight loss and weight gain, designed to maximise workout effectiveness and aid exercise recovery.
The product range includes Grenade Thermo Detonator, Grenade Black Ops, 50-Calibre, Ration Pack and Grenade Reload. Grenade UK sells its products via GNC, Holland & Barrett, Bodybuilding.com, Walmart and Tesco. It also sells directly to the US military via stores on global marine corps bases.
