
Edge backs Working Partners and Beast Quest buyouts
Edge Performance VCT has supported the two companies acquiring UK-based publishing businesses Working Partners and Beast Quest.
The acquiring newcos, Working Partners Acquisitions Ltd and Beast Quest Acquisitions Ltd, were founded by Jeremy Banks and Tim Ricketts and supported by Edge Performance VCT.
Edge provided acquisition finance to the designated acquiring vehicles. Following the transaction, Edge will hold a 50% stake in both Working Partners and Beast Quest.
Companies
Both Working Partners and Beast Quest are British publishing companies of children's fiction. Their prime publications include Animal Ark, Heartland, Beast Quest and Warriors – the latter has sold more than 10 million copies in the US. As of 2011, the companies were publishing books in 40 different languages and in 30 countries.
Working Partners was founded in 1994 by Ben Baglio and Rod Ritchie. Beast Quest was founded in June 2007.

Managing director Chris Snowdon and operations director Charles Nettleton will continue to run the businesses following the transaction.
