
Emeram acquires HgCapital’s Americana
German private equity house Emeram Capital Partners has acquired Americana International, the owner of fashion brand Bench, from HgCapital.
HgCapital was rumoured to be looking to sell the company back in February 2011 when it hired Rothschild to advise on a sale process. At the time, it was thought the asset would fetch around £300m.
HgCapital acquired Americana in 2007 for £190m from Isis Equity Partners.
Company
Manchester-based Americana was founded in 1998. Its key brand, Bench, produces fashion apparel for men and women in the 20-30-year-old age group.
Its garments are distributed in 26 countries across Europe and the US. It generates global sales of £100m annually, selling through a range of channels including e-commerce, 80 owned and franchised retail stores and a network of wholesale partners.
