Ex-Doughty chief Marquardt joins Coller
Stephen Marquardt, the former CEO of Doughty Hanson, has joined Coller Capital as partner and co-head of investor relations and fundraising.
In his new role, Marquardt will work alongside Susan Flynn as co-head of investor relations. This coincides with Flynn's decision to step down as head of investor relations at some point next year.
Marquardt announced his plans to leave Doughty Hanson in December 2015, as the GP looked to revive its fundraising efforts.
Marquardt joined Doughty Hanson in 2000, initially as head of investor relations and fundraising, and was later named CEO. Prior to joining Doughty, he was managing director of investment banking for Merrill Lynch, where he worked for 22 years. He is also non-executive director of Bridges Ventures.
In early February this year, Ashley Johansen, a New York-based fundraising partner at Coller, left the firm just a week after CEO Tim Jones unexpectedly stepped down from his role.
According to a source close to the situation at the time, Johansen's exit was motivated by the company's decision not to fundraise for some time following the close of its latest fund.
Coller's seventh fund reached a final close on $7.15bn in December 2015. The vehicle pursues the same strategy as its predecessor, CIP VI, targeting secondary transactions globally. The GP will invest in assets in the $1m-1bn bracket.
Coller International Partners VIII raised capital from approximately 170 LPs from 27 countries.
