Pillarstone hires in London and Athens
Pillarstone, an investment platform focused on banks’ non-core and underperforming assets, has appointed Elias Sakellis as a partner and Georg Stratenwerth as non-executive director.
According to a statement, Sakellis will join Pillarstone as a partner in London, with a focus on strengthening the firm's operations in Greece. He will also assist the GP's investment in the shipping and natural resources segments across the European market.
More recently, Sakellis worked as managing director at investment firm Quantum Pacific Capital, where he was responsible for the firm's investment in the shipping, offshore drilling, oil & gas and mining sectors. Prior to that, he worked at Goldman Sachs, focusing on leveraged finance and restructuring.
In addition to Sakellis's appointment, Stratenwerth will become a non-executive director at Pillarstone's Greek division, where he will oversee the GP's activity across the Greek market. He joins the team in Athens from US-based buyout house Advent International, where he worked as a partner. Prior to joining Advent in 2003, he was a partner at JP Morgan Partners, the private equity group of JP Morgan Chase.
Established in 2015 from KKR Credit, Pillarstone is an investment platform that provides managerial expertise as well as long-term capital, in both forms of credit and equity, to distressed exposure mainly from banks' balance sheets.
