
HgCapital promotes Brockman and von Simson to managing partner
HgCapital has made a number of promotions, including the appointments of Matthew Brockman and Justin von Simson to managing partners in the London and Munich offices respectively.
The firm also promoted Steven Batchelor, Jonathan Boyes and David Issott to partner in its London office.
Brockman joined the firm in 2010 from Apax Partners and oversees the Mercury fund, a £380m vehicle focused on investments in technology, media and telecommunications (TMT). He is also a member of HgCapital's operating committee and portfolio review committee. Brockman has seats on the boards of a number of the GP's portfolio companies including Achilles, Intelliflo, Allocate Software, Sequel Business Solutions and Valueworks.
Von Simson joined HgCapital in 2002 and is head of the firm's Munich office, overseeing investment activity in the industrials sector. He is also a member of the GP's operating committee and has held board seats at Hirschmann Electronics, Hofmann-Menü, SLV, SimonsVoss, Schleich, P&I, SFC Koenig and Qundis. Prior to joining HgCapital, he worked at Goldman Sachs and Deloitte & Touche.
Batchelor oversees HgCapital's client services team and led the fundraising activity for the GP's recent funds, HgCapital 8, which held a final close on its £2.5bn hard-cap in February 2017, and Mercury 2. Batchelor joined the business in 2003, and previously worked in Morgan Stanley's European financial sponsors and global capital markets teams.
Boyes is a member of the GP's TMT team and led investments in Ullink and Sovos Compliance. He also has seats on the boards of The Foundry and Iris. Boyes joined HgCapital in 2006, following three years at consultancy Oliver Wyman (then known as Mercer Management Consulting).
Issott works on HgCapital's Mercury team, having joined the firm five years ago. He has seats on the boards of portfolio companies including Allocate Software, Evaluate, Trace One and Valueworks. Prior to joining HgCapital he spent eight years at Apax Partners, leaving his role as principal in July 2012.
