General Atlantic appoints Samec as operating partner
General Atlantic has promoted Pierre Samec, senior vice-president of EMEA technology, to operating partner in its London office.
The appointment is part of a raft of worldwide promotions at the firm that also sees Munich-based Christian Figge and London-based Melis Kahya appointed as principals.
Samec joined the firm in 2014 after leaving Kalya Consulting, the digital transformation and strategy consultancy he co-founded in 2011. He was previously chief technology officer at TriZetto Corporation and Expedia.
Samec oversees digital transformation projects within General Atlantic's portfolio companies and has worked on strategies for Argus Media, ControlExpert, Flixbus, Hyperion, MeteoGroup and Network International.
Figge is promoted from the role of vice-president. He joined the GP in 2012 and focuses on investments across the DACH region, with transactions including Amedes Group, Flixbus, Hyperion, KäuferPortal, and Network International. Prior to joining General Atlantic, Figge spent two years as an associate at BC Partners.
Kahya led General Atlantic's retailer and consumer investment activity in the EMEA region and has worked on investments including EN Engineering and Joe & The Juice. Prior to joining the firm, she spent six years in the New York office at TSG Consumer Partners, leaving her role as vice-president in March 2015.
