Argos Soditic partner Semmens steps down
Guy Semmens has stepped down as partner at European mid-market sponsor Argos Soditic, according to a communication sent out to LPs invested in the GP's funds.
Semmens' departure marks the end of a 22-year career at the business, which operates from six offices in Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, Luxembourg, Milan and Paris.
During his time at Argos Soditic, Semmens has overseen the raising of five Euroknights funds, which collected some €1.5bn in total.
The latest of these – Euroknights VII – was closed just months ago on a hard-cap of €520m. Fund VII had originally been set with a hard-cap of €550m but, following discussions with key LPs, the cap was reduced, leading to the vehicle being significantly oversubscribed.
Unquote understands that Semmens is included in the key man provisions built in to Euroknights VII and other active predecessors, but that the clause has not been triggered by his departure.
Before joining Argos Soditic, Semmens was employed for five years with Clifford Chance, where he was part of the firm's buyout group.
