Ontario Teachers' chief investment officer Graven Larsen resigns
Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan chief investment officer Bjarne Graven Larsen has resigned after two years in the role.
The pension fund, which announced its CIO departure along with news of its calendar-year 2017 returns, said Graven Larsen plans to move back to Denmark, his home country, with his family.
President and chief executive officer Ron Mock will act as interim CIO during the process to find Graven Larsen's replacement.
Graven Larsen joined Ontario Teachers' in February 2016 after serving as chief financial officer at Novo in Copenhagen and previously as chief investment officer and executive board member of Denmark's ATP, the country's largest pension plan.
Prior to this, he was CEO of FIH Erhvervsbank and held positions at Realkredit Denmark, the country's largest mortgage bank, and at Denmark's Central Bank and Ministry of Finance.
For Ontario Teachers', Larsen led the fund's global investment programme and was responsible for all its activities, including managing the real estate portfolio controlled by wholly owned subsidiary Cadillac Fairview and Ontario Teachers' international offices in London and Hong Kong.
