Alaska Permanent appoints new CIO
Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation (APFC), the $65bn sovereign wealth fund, has promoted Marcus Frampton to chief investment officer.
Frampton joined APFC in 2012 as the head of real assets and absolute return. He has served as an acting CIO since July, following the resignation of APFC’s previous CIO Russell Read.
Prior to APFC, Frampton had worked for Lehman Brothers, PCG Capital Partners and LPL Financial.
The sovereign wealth fund has recently made new commitments within its private equity portfolio, including $200m to Sequoia Capital Global Growth Fund III, $49m to Index Ventures IX/Growth IV and $29m to Bain Europe V.
The fund has generated returns of 32.7% from its private equity and special opportunities portfolio in the 2017/18 financial year, the highest return across all asset classes since its foundation.
APFC currently has 11.7% ($7.6bn) of its $65bn portfolio allocated to private equity.
