SFERS makes Kemp interim MD for private markets
San Francisco Employees' Retirement System (SFERS), a $25bn defined benefit trust, has named Tanya Kemp as interim managing director of private markets, while it searches for a permanent managing director for private markets, according to a CIO report memorandum.
Kemp's new responsibilities include managing SFERS' investments in private equity, venture capital, real estate and natural resources. She joined SFERS in 2012 as investment analyst, and she was later promoted to senior portfolio manager, before serving as director of private equity.
According to the organisation's website, Arthur Wang is listed as the current pension scheme's managing director of private markets. The MD is responsible for developing investment objectives for the private equity and real assets portfolio, and will report to CIO William Coaker.
SFERS has currently allocated 15% of its portfolio to private equity, versus a target allocation of 18%.
The pension benefit trust recently approved a $50m commitment to Vista Equity Partners Fund VII, and $50m to Hellman & Friedman Capital Partners IX.
Vista Equity Partners Fund VII has a target of $16bn. Hellman and Friedman Capital Partners IX held a final close on $16bn in October 2018, hitting its target.
