Silverfleet's Whiley to succeed managing partner MacDougall
Pan-European mid-market PE house Silverfleet Capital is to promote Gareth Whiley to managing partner as part of its succession plan, with Neil MacDougall moving into the role of chairperson.
The development is part of the firm's succession plan and the changes will come into effect in April 2019.
MacDougall joined Silverfleet from Bain & Co in 1989, was promoted to managing partner in 2004 and led the spin-out of the GP from listed parent Prudential in 2007. He will continue on the investment committee of existing funds and will provide support to the firm's five European offices.
Silverfleet held a first close for its lower-mid-market European Development Fund in August 2018 and is currently deploying capital from its second flagship fund, which closed on €870m in 2015.
Whiley is to be promoted from his role of partner. He joined Silverfleet in 1997 following spells as a solicitor at Linklaters and in corporate finance at SG Warburg and Guinness.
To date, Whiley has led the firm's investment activity in the UK and Nordic region, in addition to its consumer-focused teams. He is currently a non-executive director at Phase One, Masai Clothing Company and Riviera Travel.
