Advent hires former TPG partner Taylor as head of tech
Advent International has appointed former TPG Capital partner Bryan Taylor as managing partner and head of the technology investment team.
Taylor joined the firm on 1 February 2019 and will be located in the firm's new office in the San Francisco Bay Area, which will open later this year. He will work with the firm's technology teams in North America and Europe.
Under Taylor's direction, Advent's technology team will focus on growth equity and buyout opportunities across a variety of software, data and technology-enabled services subsectors, primarily in North America and Europe.
Before joining Advent, Taylor acted as co-head of TPG Capital's technology group, where he built up the firm's software investment capabilities and jointly led a 20-person team. He has worked on a range of deal sizes from later-stage growth equity investments to large-scale buyouts.
Prior to TPG, Taylor was co-founder of Symphony Technology Group, a private equity firm focused on software companies. From 1992 to 2000, he was a strategy consultant at Bain & Company in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
