L&G hires Columbia Threadneedle's Scrimgeour
Legal & General has appointed Michelle Scrimgeour to serve as CEO of Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) and executive director of Legal & General Group.
A spokesperson for the firm told Unquote that Scrimgeour's responsibilities include being in charge of LGIM’s engagement with private market and alternative investments. She will also work closely with other business divisions that work in these markets, including L&G Capital and L&G Retirement, the spokesperson said.
Scrimgeour joins from Columbia Threadneedle Investments, where she worked as EMEA CEO. She has previously worked for M&G and BlackRock.
Scrimgeour replaces Mark Zinkula, who will retire from his current role as CEO at LGIM in August 2019. Zinkula and Scrimgeour will work closely together, in a bid to ensure a comprehensive handover before he retires from the firm.
LGIM established its private equity team, Legal & General Venture Capital, in 1988. LGIM had £984.8bn of assets under management as of June 2018.
