Level 20 launches new committee in Spain
Level 20, a not-for-profit body established to promote and support women in the private equity industry, has launched a new committee in Spain.
The Spanish Committee will be led by Maite Ballester, managing partner at Nexxus Iberia, and will comprise a group of private equity professionals based in Spain, including Nazca Capital partner Celia Pérez-Beato, Yolanda Falcón, Kibo Ventures partner Sonia Fernández, Tikehau Investment Management head of Iberia Carmen Alonso, and Inés Andrade, vice-chair and managing partner at Altamar.
The launch in Spain, which follows similar initiatives held in Germany and the Netherlands in 2018, was sponsored by Advent International, Bridgepoint, CVC Capital Partners, Meridia Capital and Permira.
According to a statement, the committee's strategy will be aimed at attracting greater numbers of women to the private equity sector in Spain and helping them reach senior roles within the industry.
The committee intends to organise networking events, promote careers in private equity at selected business schools and universities, and launch a mentoring programme to help young women develop their careers with the support of professionals and experts from the industry.
Level 20 was founded in London in 2015 with the goal to ensure that 20% of senior positions across the European private equity industry are filled by women by 2020. The body counts around 2,000 members and has received financial backing from 48 GPs. It plans to launch new committees in additional geographies in the coming months.
