BMO hires head for new global alternatives offering
BMO Global Asset Management has announced the appointment of Stewart Bennett as global head of alternatives.
Bennett will oversee BMO's recently formed global alternatives offering, which incorporates its existing private equity, real estate, and real estate securities businesses.
His responsibilities include developing the firm's alternative global growth strategy, building on the track record of delivering superior risk-adjusted returns, and expanding its global reach.
Bennett's appointment comes as the firm consolidates its alternatives expertise into one structure, in a bid to meet client demand and growth ambitions.
The launch of the new global alternatives offering is also related to the retirement of Nick Criticos from BMO Real Estate Partners. Criticos has served more than 20 years in the firm, including more than 10 years as CEO.
Bennett joins from Ondra Partners, where he has served as partner and a head of the financial institutions group. He has previously worked for Dresdner Kleinwort and Botts & Company.
Based in London, he will report to Kristi Mitchem, CEO of BMO Global Asset Management.
The firm has recently committed to Summa Equity Fund II, Verdane Edda and Apiary Capital Partners I.
BMO Global Asset Management is a part of BMO Financial Group, a North America-based financial services group with C$807bn in assets under management as of January 2019.
