Invest Europe appoints Mid Europa's Baudon as chairperson
Mid Europa Partners founder Thierry Baudon has succeeded DN Capital's Nenad Marovac as chair of private equity and venture capital trade body Invest Europe.
Baudon will be in the new role for one year, with his tenure taking immediate effect.
During Marovac's spell as chair of Invest Europe, the body rolled out its VentureEU fund-of-funds programme and a lower risk-weight category for long-term equity under Solvency II.
Baudon founded Mid Europa in 1998 and was managing partner of the firm until 2016. Since then he has taken on the roles of executive chairperson and chairperson emeritus.
In the coming year, Invest Europe intends to update its professional standards handbook and develop a climate change guide to help private equity and venture capital address risks associated with global warming. Baudon also intends to spearhead a number of reports that highlight the role the asset class plays in generating employment and on the wider economy.
Prior to launching Mid Europa, Baudon spent 11 years managing investment teams in the EMEA region for the World Bank and four years as deputy vice-president at the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development, where he managed a team that focused on debt and equity investments in central and eastern Europe. He also headed the international finance division of the Suez Group between 1995-1998.
