Cambridge University endowment appoints new CIO

The University of Cambridge has named Tilly Franklin as chief investment officer (CIO) to lead its £3.2bn endowment fund.
Franklin replaces Nick Cavalla, who departed in September 2018 after 10 years of service to join Talisman Global Asset Management as chief executive officer.
Franklin joins from Alta Advisers, where she was head of private equity and director of investments. She has previously worked for Apax Partners, BBC Worldwide and Virgin Management.
Prior to joining the UK university as CIO, Franklin had been on the university's investment board for five years. She is also an alumni of Jesus College at Cambridge University.
The Cambridge University Endowment Fund has invested 9% of its portfolio to private investment. Vehicles it has committed to include HgCapital 8, EMK Capital Partners and Apollo Therapeutics Fund.
