Illinois pension replaces Callan with Wilshire Associates
Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) has appointed Wilshire Associates to serve as investment consultant and to provide performance measurement services, effective from January 2020.
The new consultant will be in charge of providing general investment consulting services across all major asset classes. IMFR has invested 5.1% of its portfolio in alternative investments, versus a target allocation of 7%. Some of the recent commitments to private equity include Versant Vantage I, Inflexion Supplemental Fund V, Inflexion Enterprise Fund V, and IK IX.
Other responsibilities of the consultant include sourcing managers, periodic asset liability studies, and performance measurement services for the US pension's board of trustees and staff.
The contract with Wilshire has a five-year term. The consultant previously partnered with IMRF on an asset/liability-modelling study in 2016.
Wilshire replaces Callan Associates, which served as the $42.8bn pension fund's consultant since 2010.
The LP launched the request for proposals on 4 March, and the deadline was on 26 March.
