Texas pension names new CIO
Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) has appointed Jase Auby as its new chief investment officer (CIO), effective from January 2020.
Auby currently serves as deputy CIO of the $157bn pension fund, which he joined in 2009.
His promotion follows the decision of the current CIO, Jerry Albright, to step down from his role; Albright will remain at TRS for one more year, working as senior managing director within global investment initiatives. Albright has been with the pension scheme since 1994, and his appointment as a CIO came in 2017.
Prior to joining TRS, Auby has worked for Enfield Capital, Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs.
TRS has a target allocation of 13% to private equity. It has recently committed to Insight Venture Partners XI, TPG Healthcare Partners, PAI Liberty VII and Permira VII.
