GreyBella Capital to launch new fund by mid-2020
Massachusetts-headquartered venture capital firm GrayBella Capital plans to launch a new fund and hold a first close in H1 2020, managing partner Ruta Laukien told Unquote.
The firm's targeted hard-cap stands at €150m, she said. The fund, which will be registered in Luxembourg, foresees investing €100m with a focus on southern Europe and the UK, and €50m in the Baltic and Nordic markets, Laukien added.
Its fund will target series-A and -B investments in companies operating in fields of life sciences and complex technologies, according to Laukien and the company's website. It foresees deploying equity tickets of €5-10m in Spain, Portugal and the UK, while its Baltic tickets are expected to stand at around €3m per company, Laukien said.
GrayBella has unspecified commitments from unnamed European and US-based family offices, individuals and funds, Laukien said. It does not have any commitments from large institutional investors yet, although it is talking with such investors, she added, without specifying.
GrayBella's European headquarters are based in Bilbao, Spain; it also has a team in London, Lisbon, Madrid and Vilnius, according to its website.
