Californian pension SCERS searches for alternatives consultant
Sacramento County Employees Retirement Scheme (SCERS) has launched a request for proposals (RFP) searching for a consultant for its alternatives portfolio, which includes investments in private equity and private credit.
The consultant will assist in the construction of an alternatives portfolio, develop a long-term strategic plan (three to five years), provide recommendations and advice, and conduct initial and ongoing due diligence of managers, among other responsibilities.
The RFP reveals that the $10bn pension fund has a mature alternatives portfolio and it expects to selectively increase its exposure with new alternatives managers. The portfolio covers absolute-return and real-assets strategies, along with private equity and private credit.
The pension fund has a target allocation of 39% to alternatives, including a 9% target allocation to PE and 4% to private credit.
The deadline for proposals is 6 March, and more information can be found here.
Interviews with the most qualified respondents are expected to take place in May and the finalists will present to the board in June.
