
Värde announces three partner promotions
Alternative investment firm Värde Partners has announced the promotion of Jim Dunbar, Aneek Mamik and Carlos Sanz Esteve to partner.
Based in London, Esteve joined Värde in 2011 and leads the firm's European corporate and traded credit strategy. He has developed the firm's activities within European financial and sovereign debt, as well as in emerging market credit, according to a statement. He was an analyst in the M&A division of Deutsche Bank prior to joining Värde.
Mamik is global co-head of financial services at Värde and is responsible for credit and equity investments in sectors including consumer and commercial finance. This has included recent lending activity to consumer and SME lending platforms, according to a statement. He joined Värde in 2016 and is based in New York. Prior to his time at Värde, he spent 15 years with GE Capital, latterly as head of mergers and acquisitions at GE Capital.
Dunbar is based in Minneapolis and leads the firm's commercial real estate lending platform. He joined Värde in 2010 from his role as a senior vice-president in Macquarie's real estate business in Chicago, prior to which he worked at Citigroup in New York and Sydney.
Värde was founded in 1993 and has offices in locations including Minneapolis, New York, London and Singapore. It covers corporate and traded credit, real estate and mortgages, private equity, and direct lending, with its roots in credit and distressed lending.
The firm held a final close for Värde Fund XIII in December 2019 on USD 2.47bn, surpassing its USD 2bn target. The vehicle targets a broad range of strategies, with a focus on credit, real estate and speciality finance.
