
KKR hires Workday co-CEO as tech advisor
Global private equity firm KKR has hired Chano Fernandez, the co-CEO of Workday, to advise on tech investments in Europe and North America.
Fernandez joins as a senior advisor on KKR's global technology team.
He will advise the KKR team on its technology investment activities globally, focusing on the enterprise application software segment in Europe and North America.
His mandate includes identifying and assessing new opportunities, as well as providing guidance to the management of KKR's portfolio companies on operations and growth strategies.
Fernandez has worked in cloud, SaaS and enterprise software solutions for over 20 years, having held senior positions at SAP, Infor, Blue C and McKinsey.
He joined Workday eight years ago and has been co-CEO since August 2020.
KKR closed its second tech growth fund in early 2020 at USD 2.2bn. The KKR Next Generation Technology Growth Fund II is dedicated to growth equity investments in the technology space in North America, Europe and Israel.
KKR's current technology investments in Europe include business and accounting software provider Exact, which it bought from Apax in 2019.
It also owns a minority stake in process automation company Leapwork, online driver training and awareness company Ornikar, and low-code application development provider OutSystems.
