SVPGlobal poaches Beach Point Capital's Himot
Connecticut-headquartered private credit firm Strategic Value Partners (SVPGlobal) has hired Brian Himot as head of structured capital from Beach Point Capital.
Himot will also serve on SVPGlobal's management council while leading the mezzanine and structured equity investing department, according to a press release.
Prior to this appointment, Himot spent 12 years at Beach Point Capital as partner and portfolio manager, co-leading the firm's private credit business. During his tenure, he focused on mezzanine debt transitional capital and preferred equity and oversaw a multi-billion dollar portfolio. Beach Point Capital has AUM of USD 17bn, according to the press release.
Previously, Himot was the vice president at Banc of America Securities in the new product development group. Before that, he was an associate O'Melveny & Myers, a law firm that focuses on corporate tax in Los Angeles and New York.
SVPGlobal has provided DIP (debtor-in-possession) loans and rescue financing since 2001. The firm has more than USD 18bn in AUM and expects to build a five- to six-person structured capital team over the next six months in the US and Europe, according to the press release.
SVPGlobal's latest vehicles include Strategic Value Special Situations Fund V, which held a final close in August 2021 on USD 5bn. The focus of the fund is on restructurings, event-driven investments, special situations, and trading-oriented opportunities in North America and Europe, according to Unquote Data.
