Permira bolsters global technology team with senior advisor
London-headquartered sponsor Permira has hired Koen Köppen, the current CTO of e-payments provider Mollie, as a senior advisor for its global technology team.
Köppen joined the Netherlands-based digital payments provider earlier this year. He is responsible for overseeing Mollie's technology platforms. Previously, he worked at Klarna for more than 10 years, holding several leadership positions before becoming CTO in 2017, according to a press release.
Köppen is also a board member of GoCardless, an alternative payment methods provider, for which Permira led a USD 312m Series G funding round in February 2022 alongside Blackrock, as reported.
In his new role, Köppen will support investment origination and value creation across the Permira portfolio, including partnerships with fintech and payments companies such as Klarna, GoCardless, Carta, Clearwater Analytics and Housecall Pro, according to the press release.
Permira's other recent senior advisor hires include Simon Segars earlier this year, as well as Barry O'Sullivan and Mark Garrett in 2021.
Permira held a first close for its latest flagship vehicle, Permira VIII, in July 2022 on EUR 15bn, according to Unquote Data. The GP closed its second Growth Opportunities II fund, which is double the size of its predecessor, in January 2022 on EUR 4bn. The vehicle will make investments in high-growth tech-enabled businesses globally, according to Unquote Data.
