Millerchip returns to OpCapita as CFO

Simon Millerchip has been appointed by OpCapita as chief financial officer and head of compliance, returning to his former position at the firm after leaving in 2010.
Millerchip's new role will see him assist the firm as it fundraises and targets potential deals within the European consumer, retail and leisure markets. He will be working alongside director of investor relations Carolina Crowley and associate Javier González, recruited in May. The GP's team has grown from eight to thirteen professionals in the last 12 months.
The current appointment marks Millerchip's return to OpCapita, where he worked as CFO, compliance officer and money laundering reporting officer alongside chief executive Henry Jackson between 2008 and 2010.
That year saw him leave for Man Capital, where he specialised in fund management, portfolio structuring as well as finance, debt and tax matters until 2015. He was chief financial officer of the firm for a 16-month period.
The hire comes six monthsa after OpCapita held a final close for its Consumer Opportunities Fund. According to the GP, the vehicle has financed two investments to date: German textile retailer NKD, wholly acquired from clothing corporation Daun & Cie in November 2013; and Spanish frozen food seller La Sirena, acquired in November 2014. The latter deal was the firm's second transaction in the Spanish market after acquiring Game Iberia in 2012.
