DFJ’s Cook joins DFJ Global Network board

DFJ Esprit CEO Simon Cook has joined the board of Silicon Valley-based DFJ Global Network.
Cook will remain in the UK and is charged with monitoring UK and European technology enterprises for DFJ Global Network.
Besides Cook's appointment, Bill Bryant, a venture partner with Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ) in Silicon Valley, has been seconded for a year to DFJ Esprit's London office to bolster the relationship between Europe and Silicon Valley.
The DFJ Global Network recently span out of parent firm DFJ and is now an independent group comprising 16 venture funds, including DFJ and DFJ Esprit, which aid each other on investment due diligence, corporate relationships and co-investments. The network houses 30 offices and a total of $7bn of global funds under management.
DFJ, which has in the past backed Hotmail and Skype, acquired a strategic stake in Esprit Capital Partners in August 2007, creating DFJ Esprit. The deal also saw the company joining DFJ's global network of venture partnerships.
