Former NYSE Euronext chair Hessels joins General Atlantic
General Atlantic (GA) has appointed Jan-Michiel Hessels, former chairman of NYSE Euronext, as a special adviser in Europe.
In his new role, Hessels will be based in Amsterdam and will work with GA's investment team to identify new investment opportunities and provide strategic support to portfolio companies.
Hessels currently sits on the board of directors at IntercontinentalExchage Group and on the supervisory board at Royal Boskalis Westminster. From 2000 to 2013 he was chairman of the board of Euronext, where he was involved in the merger with NYSE Group. Former roles include directorships at Heineken, Royal Philips Electronis, Fortis and Amsterdam Exchange.
