Terra Firma CFO leaves for Atomico
Chris Barnes, previously chief financial officer at Terra Firma, has joined Atomico as chief operating officer and partner.
Barnes spent 13 years with Terra Firma, and his departure follows a string of other personnel exits from the company – most recently former Investor Relations head Lachmi-Niwas Sadani in January.
Commenting on Barnes' exit, Guy Hands, chairman and chief investment officer of Terra Firma, said that CEO Tim Pryce will be taking over his responsibilities. The firm is not looking for a replacement, although it is seeking to hire a new senior deal person to work alongside Hands and Pryce.
Terra Firma recently announced it will be investing from a €1bn pool of committed capital reserves. Click here to read more about what this means for the firm's future strategy.
Alongside Barnes, Yann de Vries has also joined the Atomico team. He joins as partner in the investment team, where he will focus on assessing and executing new investment opportunities. De Vries was a co-founder of Redpoint eventures, where he was also managing director.
The appointment of both Barnes and de Vries comes as Atomico sets up shop in Berlin. Having invested heavily in 6Wunderkinder, which is based in the city, the VC labelled the German capital as a ‘fast-growing ecosystem'.
