TRS head of PE steps down
Steve LeBlanc, head of private market investments at the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), will step down from his position in June and return to the private sector.
LeBlanc joined the fund in 2008 and was previously active in the real estate industry. During his time at TRS, he developed the fund's strategy in relation to private equity, real estate, energy and principal investments.
LeBlanc established an investment process referred to as "the Texas Way" - establishing a "premier list" of top-performing GPs to which TRS would exclusively commit - and formed important investment relationships and strategic partnerships.
He notably played a role in the $6bn commitment to funds managed by Apollo and KKR last year. In total, LeBlanc and his team have deployed some $20bn in 90 investments over the last four years.
According to a TRS statement, LeBlanc will "return to private life and the creation of new companies."
