Aberdeen restructures private equity activities
Aberdeen Asset Managers Private Equity (AAMPE), formerly Aberdeen Murray Johnstone Private Equity, the private equity division of Aberdeen Asset ManagementPLC (AAM), announces a rebranding and internal restructuring which seesinvestment operation split into two teams, Private Equity and Growth Capital.
The Growth Capital team, led by Bill Nixon, will focus on providing equity funding forsmaller companies valued at up to £10m across the UK. The team will apply ageneralist cross-sector investment policy and will be investing from a range of clientfunds including VCT's, Investment Trusts and Local Authority Pension Funds, as wellas sector specific funds covering the energy and biotechnology sectors. In 2005, theteam led and completed deals in companies such as Travel Class, Kingsley Cardsand Software Radio Technology. In addition, this team has two specialist AIM fundmanagers, Stella Panu and Judith MacKenzie, who invest directly in new andsecondary AIM issues on behalf of the VCT clients.
AAMPE is pleased to announce the appointments of Ed Coombs and Guido Bicocchi,who will be joining the Growth Capital teams in London and Glasgow respectively.Ed was formerly a Partner in a corporate finance boutique in London, and Guido wasa Senior Executive in the Corporate and Structured Finance Division of the RoyalBank of Scotland in Glasgow and Edinburgh.In addition to the investment operation, AAMPE continues to develop its PortfolioManagement team, led by Mike Collis and comprising 5 senior executives. This teamlooks after and monitors the performance of over 100 portfolio companiesthroughout the UK.
