Permira appoints co-head of TMT team
Permira has appointed Brian Ruder, partner and head of its Menlo Park office in California, as co-head of its global technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) team.
He will work alongside London-based Richard Sanders, who has been in the role since 2010.
Ruder joined Permira in 2008 as a partner and helped open the firm's Menlo Park office, establishing its presence in the region.
He has led a number of TMT deals for the company, including Ancestry.com, Genesys Telecommunications, LegalZoom, Renaissance Learning and TeamViewer.
Prior to joining Permira, Ruder was managing director at Francisco Partners for eight years from 2000. He was the co-founder of financial services business Upromise and programme manager at Netscape Communications in 1999. Between 1996 and 1998 he was an associate at private equity firm Hellman & Friedman and began his career as an analyst at Morgan Stanley in 1994.
