UK - GfK in talks with Cinven over TNS bid
German market research group GfK is reportedly in talks with Cinven in relation to a potential joint bid for UK research group TNS.
GfK is said to be talking to Cinven and at least one other buyout house to raise between £400m and £600m in an effort to come up with a better offer than the £1.08bn made by WPP, the marketing services company. GfK and TNS were planning a nil-premium merger before WPP handed in its hostile bid, which was rejected by TNS's board on the same day it was made.
