Despite the economic challenges of 2011, Bridgepoint Capital has had a rather active year, completing 10 buyouts over the course of the past 12 months. With €1.02bn, the buyout of French residential property management services group Fonica was the largest deal the firm completed. Bridgepoint upped its total number of buyouts by three from the previous year.
Second place this year is shared between LDC, CM-CIC Capital Finance, HIG Capital and Carlyle, all of which completed nine buyouts.
Both Bridgepoint and Carlyle invested over €2bn in the past 12 months. HIG's total investments exceeded €1bn, while those of LDC and CIC only amounted to about half of that.
In 2010, LDC and HgCapital shared the position of most active buyout investors with eight completed deals each.
