ITALY - BC Partners joins the competition for Alitalia
Press reports suggest that pan-European firm BC Partners is also interested in troubled airline Alitalia.
It is understood that the firm is in talks with Merrill Lynch, which is coordinating the sale. Other prospective buyers include private equity groups Texas Pacific Group and Sopaf, as well as the turnaround fund Management & Capitali, possibly with the support of Goldman Sachs and even US hedge fund Cerberus. The deadline for offers is 29 January.
