UK - Virgin Media seeks strategic buyer
It is understood that Virgin Media has appointed UBS to help it search for a strategic buyer. The UK communications giant has recently attracted private equity interest. Carlyle is reported to be undertaking due diligence ahead of a bid which could value the already heavily indebted business at ТЃ11.3bn.
The feelers have been put out for a non-private equity buyer because of volatility in the debt markets which insiders believe could see private equity struggling to raise enough debt to facilitate the deal.
