EVCA elects new chairman
The General Assembly of the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA) has elected Vincenzo Morelli as chairman for the coming year.
Morelli, who is the organisation's 29th chairman, is a partner and senior adviser at global investment firm TPG. He will take over from Karsten Langer, who was appointed in June last year.
He has acted as chairman of EVCA's large-buyout platform European Private Equity Roundtable (EPER) for its first three years and has also served as director and vice-chairman of EVCA since 2010.
Morelli has worked in business for 37 years, holding senior roles at firms such as Clayton Dubilier & Rice and Alvarez & Marsal.
Outlining his strategy during the chairmanship, Morelli said in his post-election speech: "We aim to encourage a positive view of private equity and venture capital as a very effective model of company ownership for businesses requiring development and investment to grow or adapt, and as an indispensably useful source of risk capital for European enterprise."
