Freshfields private equity star Bown leaves for client CVC
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer private equity partner Chris Bown has left to join private equity house CVC, a major client of the magic circle firmтs corporate group.
Bown will retire from the firm in April 2014 and join CVC as a senior adviser. His role will include advising deal teams, working alongside CVC's external counsel and in-house legal team.
Bown was Freshfields' former global co-head of private equity and founded its London-based private equity practice.
In an internal email to staff Bown said: "After 15 very happy and fulfilling years at Freshfields I have decided that it is time for me to take on a different role. I have been very privileged to work with so many talented colleagues, fellow advisers and clients in the course of my career in private practice, and I very much hope to continue to do so over the years to come. My new role will also give me time to take on other broader commitments and indulge other interests, and I look forward to exploring those."
In April 2012 Bown led a team on the €2.65bn sale of CEE-focused brewing group StarBev to Canada's Molson Coors, advising StarBev and CVC.
