
Clifford Chance promotes Matthew Layton

Global head of corporate Matthew Layton has been appointed as global managing partner at Clifford Chance.
Layton will start his new four-year role in May next year. He has been working at Clifford Chance since 1991, and was appointed global head of corporate operations in 2008.
Layton takes over from David Childs, who has been acting as global managing partner since 2006. Layton will work closely with Childs until taking over responsibilities next year.
Layton, who focuses his practice on leveraged buyouts, private equity transactions, M&A and corporate finance, graduated from Leeds university in 1982 and was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1986.
