Permira appoints Chris Davison as new head of IR

Permira has promoted principal Chris Davison to head of investor relations, as Philip Bassett is set to leave after 20 years with the firm.
Bassett is due to leave Permira at the end of the year, having worked at the GP since 1995. He joined the firm when it was still named Schroder Ventures, in order to build the investor relations function. He became a partner in 2004 and led four fundraises overall for Permira.
Davison joined the firm's investor relations team in 2005 and became a principal in 2008. He has also been holding the position of director of communications since 2007.
Davison worked on two fundraising efforts at Permira, first for Permira IV – the vehicle closed on €11bn in 2006 but was later written down in 2008, in the wake of the financial crisis. Davison then co-led the fundraising process for Permira V, which closed on €5.3bn earlier this year after nearly three years on the road.
Permira V has completed seven investments to date and has already deployed in excess of 30% of committed capital, according to the GP.
