BELGIUM - Blackstone in talks with AB InBev
It is understood that buyout giant Blackstone is in talks with Anheuser-Busch InBev, the Belgian business best known for its alcoholic beverage interests, regarding the purchase of some of the group's amusement parks, in a deal that could be worth as much as $3bn.
The group's Central and Eastern European assets, comprising 11 breweries across seven countries, are also currently on the block, with UK-based buyout house CVC Capital Partners thought to be weeks away from finalising a EUR 1.4bn deal. The investor has recently upped the equity in its bid from EUR 700m to EUR 840m, while a dozen banks are said to have committed to an all-senior financing package.
AB InBev, is seeking to obtain close to $7bn from divestments to pay down some of its $45bn debt pile, mostly accrued from the $52bn merger of Belgian brewer InBev with US rival Anheuser-Busch to form the group last year.
