PineBridge appoints Lord Davies as non-executive chairman
PineBridge Investments has appointed E.Mervyn Davies as non-executive chairman.
Lord Davies was hired to help drive the firm's strategy and further strengthen its position in the asset management industry. He will continue to be based out of the UK and will work closely with the firm's management team in New York.
Lord Davies joins PineBridge following his role as minister of state for Trade, Investment and Small Business in the UK government, appointed jointly to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Previously, he served as both chairman and group chief executive of Standard Chartered Bank, where he was a member of the board for over 12 years.
In addition to these responsibilities, Lord Davies' other roles have included chairman of the Business Council for Britain; chairman of the Hong Kong Association of Banks; member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority; non-executive director at Tesco; and chairman of the Royal Academy of Arts's corporate board. He was awarded Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to the financial sector and the community in Hong Kong in June 2002.
