BALTICS - Pohjola appoints Baltic head
Finnish banking group Pohjola has appointed Jorma Alanne as head of its Baltic divison, replacing Markku Vehmas.
Pohjola started its operations in the Baltic region when they acquired K-Finance from Kesko Corporation in 2007, and specialises in providing leasing and factoring solutions. The main office is located in Tallin, and the bank has 30 employees across the region.
The Baltic region has been severly hit by the financial crisis, with reports suggesting that three countries are suffering the worst recession of all the EU member states. The bank Swedish bank SEB has suffered greatly from their Baltic exposure.
Despite the warning signs, Pohjola aims to expand its services and operations in the troubled region over the next few years.
