UK - Octopus acquires Smollensky's restaurant group

Octopus Private Equity has supported the acquisition of London restaurant group Smollenskyт€™s. Octopus has committed ТЃ6m alongside senior debt from Alliance & Leicester to support the acquisition. Octopus is backing restaurateur Paul Lilley, whose past successes include the turnaround of the Aberdeen Angus Steakhouse business, to run the Group, which constitutes Smollenskyт€™s along with Lilleyт€™s existing restaurant business, Le Frog Bistros.

With nine sites in central London, Smollensky’s operates under the Smollensky’s Bar & Grill, Burgershack by Smollensky’s and Smollensky’s Metro brands. Le Frog Bistros, which also includes the Pastiche Bistros brand, has eight sites in the North West and Midlands. Octopus was introduced to the transaction by Christie Corporate Finance.
