NL - Private equity courts Akzo Nobel's pharma business

The company is worth over EUR 8bn and two consortiums are reportedly set to present their offers by next week. The prospective bidders include a group formed by KKR and CVC and another encompassing Blackstone, Bain Capital, Alpinvest, Apax and Texas Pacific Group.

The sale of Organon is reportedly planned for the first half of 2007. Akzo did not comment on the possible acquisition by a private equity firm but did mention that the preferred divestment route from Organon would be an IPO.
