UK - Charterhouse in talks to acquire Candover's Wood Mackenzie
UK buyout house Charterhouse Capital has reportedly entered exclusive talks to acquire Candover-backed energy consultancy firm Wood Mackenzie for ТЃ550m.
If the sale is completed, it would be the UK's biggest leveraged buyout this year, and would also give Candover enough capital to avoid breaching its banking covenants.
Proceeds from the sale could also give ailing Candover some leverage when reviewing its options, which include an outright takeover, a minority stake sale or a fundraising.
As a result of the deal talks with Charterhouse, Candover's share price jumped to almost 268 pence yesterday.
