DENMARK - Sunstone Ventures - a new Danish venture capital company
Sunstone Capital A/S was launched today as a new player on the Danish venture market with total commitments of EUR 390m. The new venture player has four funds under management, and will focus on early-stage Nordic companies. In a first closing of its new Life Science and Tecnology funds, Sunstone Capital has rasied EUR 160m, from seven institutional investors: Industriens Pension, Nordea Life & Pension Tryg in Denmark, MP Pension, Lønmodtagerns Dyrtidsfod, Danish Statebacked Vækstfonden and private investors through a feeder fund managed by Carnegie Private Banking. Sunstone Capital has also assumed the management of 33 technology and life-science companies from Vækstfonden. These companies are placed in two initial funds with invested capital of EUR 120m, and a follow-up commitment of EUR 110m.
